Editorial Review

The Waterpik WP-950 is about as full-featured an oral hygiene package as you could expect to find without a dentist (or smartphone app) included. It's not just an electric toothbrush but comes with an oral irrigator (i.e., water flosser) as part of the bundle. If you're tired of performing actual physical labor while doing your nightly plaque removal routine, the WP-950 will handle both the brushing and the flossing with two easy buttons and a little cooperation from one of your hands. The pair of devices includes a large, stylish holder/battery recharger that will fit right into your high-tech bathroom. The toothbrush will take care of the gunk on your teeth while the water flosser will remove it from between your teeth so that your gum lines don't eventually recede into your jaw and your breath won't smell suspiciously of last night's pesto sauce.

Waterpik (inventor of the oral irrigator) claims to have clinical proof that these toothcare tools are 70 percent more effective than Sonicare Flexcare at making your gums glow with health and 52 percent more effective at removing plaque. These figures are based on clinical tests published in the Journal of Clinical Dentistry, so presumably they're unbiased. (Taking results with a grain of salt is optional.) If you'd prefer to see Sonicare's side of the argument, check out the Philips Sonicare Flexcare+, where the plus sign may indicate that they're one-upping Waterpik on the sly.

Waterpik advertises the WP-950 as being perfect for crowns, braces, implants, bridges and veneers, so no matter what shape your teeth are in now, they at least won't be getting any worse. If you want to remove yourself completely from the Waterpik/Sonicare rivalry, you can also take a look at the Pursonic S522 Dual Handle or the Kolibree Smart Toothbrush, which doesn't come with its own dentist but does come with smartphone video games. Clinical results not necessarily available.

So far we really like the WP950. It is a great system. I love that they changed the button to a slide switch so it won't stick anymore.

Well made and very easy to use...only complaint is that the tube is relatively short and the material is very stiff...Overall I am totally pleased and happy.

Simple & easy to use. You have the option of different speeds. Save space on the counter with toothbrush attachment. Plenty of different attachment for waterpik.

WP-950 [is just] the WP-900 with little more than a color change.
