Humidifiers can remove allergens from the air and cure the dryness that makes your skin crack like brittle old paper. The Taotronics TT-AH004 is an ultrasonic humidifier, meaning that it uses sound waves to break water up into particles small enough to float invisibly through the air but not so small that they won't keep your skin moist. If you live in a tropical rain forest, you probably won't need one -- nature is already doing that job for you -- but if you live in desert conditions or have to undergo weather so cold that it can't hold water vapor, they can be lifesavers.
Despite the ultrasound, the Taotronics doesn't make any noise. (Ultrasonic sound is, by definition, too high pitched for the human ear to detect.) It can be set to four different mist levels, depending on how dry the air is without it. The reservoir holds five liters of water, which the company estimates will last for 13 hours at the highest setting. Dial down the mist level, and it will last even longer. (You can get up to 24 hours of humidity at the lowest level.) The unit has an ultra-modern control panel on the front with six buttons to let you set the levels and an LED display to assure you that it's operating correctly. Once you get it going, it will keep running at the preset parameters until you turn it off -- or until it runs out of water.
The unit is sleek and modern looking, with clear blue plastic over the tank so you can see how much water is left. It has handles so you can pick it up and move it around, even when it's wet and heavy from all that liquid in the reservoir. Some other sleek-looking units you might want to look at if you want to keep your home both humidified and attractive include the Air Innovations MH-801B, the Dyson AM10 and the Apalus HF001BK.
We love this product. It is whisper quiet and does a great job humidifying which is really all it is supposed to do. The sleep feature is great... I recommend this product.
It worked for roughly 3 minutes, before the screen went blank and it completely died. I can't believe this! Such a disappointment!
