On a planet that is entirely solar-powered, it is refreshing when humans tap into that big energy ball in the sky for the facilitation of their mundane tasks. It is decidedly less corrosive to the planet and makes sense economically because power companies haven’t yet included sunlight in their billing. So until they do, there’s no good reason not to avail ourselves of its warming brilliance and energetic influence. As a power source it is unequaled, it runs in constancy, appears to be self-renewing, and cannot be shut off because your check bounced. It furnishes power to extra-terrestrial craft, satellites, the space station, high-altitude drones, homes, businesses, and even vehicles. As yet it hasn’t shown its efficacy in submarine situations but it will drive vessels that float atop the surface.
Poolbots don’t enjoy the direct benefits of solar power owing to the diffusive nature of their work environments. Older, more cumbersome types, such as the Maytronics Dolphin Hybrid DX2, are attached to the pool’s filtration system with long, obtrusive, flexible hoses and driven with mechanical or electric motors. The new breed, like the Aquabot Classic or bottom-feeding Aquafirst Super Rover, are plug-and-spray, powered by alternating current and connected by a cord. Such poolbots as these work below the surface and away from the Sun’s powerful rays.
Where the bottom feeder holds dominance the floater will upset the balance. Or at least remove some of it before it sinks to the bottom. The Solar Pool Technologies Solar Breeze NX is a solar-powered skimmer that scoots about the top of the water gathering surface muck. It suggests a 90% to 95% efficacy rate as compared presumably to the guy with the pole and the net who is powered by lemonade. This one is an augmenting system as you’ll still need the bottom dweller to clean its insides and the filtration system for that other 5% to 10%. Among the muck which it does suck are leaves, pollen, dust, and sundry swimmer lubricants.
Easy to use...Constantly skims so very little ends up on the bottom. Some of the bugs/ leafs fall out when removing from the pool to clean its filter.
Awesome skimmer. It runs all day and part of the night...it is the only way to keep our pool cleaner and ready to swim in. This is worth every penny.
It has done a wonderful job...All the scummy stuff that lands in the pool is quickly picked up along with the leaves! It is exactly what I hoped it would be.
The Solar-Breeze Robotic pool cleaner does a great job keeping our pool clean! No more junk on the bottom of the pool! Happy that I purchased this!
It's pretty cool...The surface is always clean, and you don't have to clean the pump filter as often...The main problem with the version I had is it's durability.
