Almost 5000 years ago, the first known swimming pool/public baths were enjoyed by the ancient Harappan culture. As there is no direct indication that they had at that point learned about chlorine, pH levels or even how to construct an effective skimmer, it’s not hard imagining that particular swimming hole being inhabited by ‘creepy crawlies.’ Of course, in modern parlance a ‘creepy crawly’ isn’t a dirty water problem so much as a dirty water solution. Since the invention of the automatic poolbot in 1967, the little bottom dwellers have commanded an increasing share of the pool owning public’s maintenance dollar. With their ease of use and simplicity of maintenance, it’s not hard to see why. The pure recreational goodness of the pool cannot but help being tainted by having to scrub it down for an hour or so before jumping in.
A recurring lament that seems to cross poolbot species is the climb. They all seem to enjoy praiseworthiness when vacuuming the horizontal surfaces, but that seems to drop off when it comes to the walls. Lack of effective suction would appear to be the problem in that regard, which leaves us with the conundrum of the suckier units being the better investment.
The Smartpool Kleenmachine bypasses all that contentious edge-work by proclaiming itself “Floor Specific” and keeping its dirty work on the down-low. Operating with a brush and vacuum it is suited for cleaning vinyl, fiberglass or concrete surfaces. Unlike Water Tech’s Speed Jet, the Kleenmachine is strictly for below ground pool bottoms. Lightweight and user friendly, the indication is that Kleenmachine is eco-friendly and energy efficient. Its intake ports are positioned to maximize coverage in corners and on angles, and it all ends up in a good sized filter bag for convenient clean-up.
I've had this cleaner for about 2 months now and so far so good haven't had any major problems out of it.
This tiny machine does a good job. I think it is rather too expensive not to have an extended warranty offered.
This machine is everything we wanted and the price was cheaper than all the other models. It cleans the bottom of the pool and the sides.
It worked good for about 6 months. then the plastic ring that holds the bag started breaking.
The product even picks up rocks and all debris it leaves the pool sparkling clean. I am really amazed of what this robot can do.
After 3 seasons of daily use, it is finally showing signs of age, although it still works.
