Ocean diving is not for the faint of heart nor light of wallet. It requires physical strength and personal discipline, along with some fairly expensive equipment to even begin to adequately engage. Owing to the vagaries of spending any serious time in an oxygen-negative environment, it seems one is best served not bargain shopping for their air. Much diving gear is rather brutish and clunky – hefty steel tanks of compressed air, rubber hoses, steel and tempered glass regulators, thick rubber suits, nylon belts with lead weights. Even for effective submarine motivation for the professional, some DPVs – Diver Propulsion Vehicles – like the Hollis H-160 appear stark and torpedo-like.
To counter that grim utilitarian functionality, Sea-Doo throws some style into the mix. Their sharp Sea Doo VS Supercharged Plus offers function and form in an affordable DPV. While a fraction of the cost of the aforementioned big-dollar diver-dragger, it still isn’t cheap by any real definition. So when the kids come around wanting to use it, it never hurts to have options.
For divers and swimmers from 8 years old and up, Sea-Doo offers the Aqua Ranger. Small, compact, light and key-lime green and blue, the Aqua Ranger is a high-end pool toy that works in bigger expanses of water. Rated for deeper diving than the 15 ft. of the toy-like Sea Doo Dolphin, the Aqua Ranger is good down to 30 ft. and peppier to boot. It will pull an average-sized adult around at 2 mph, though it is clearly designed for lighter passengers. It is a lightweight DPV, less than 12 lbs., and very hydrodynamic and maneuverable. It runs on a full charge for about 3 hours though specs suggest individual users' durations may vary. The propeller is wisely enclosed in a plastic cage, making the Aqua Ranger safe and accessible. A nicely rendered, entry-level DPV.
Took to four islands in Hawaii, dove to 30 ft using it with scuba worked great even when towing additional diver!
It works great and has a long 1 hour battery life. We all love using this and it has made it's way into several pools and oceans without a glitch. Great product!
This is one of may pool toy I have bought for them & they love it . . . I think it is well worth the cost & recommend it.
Run time was acceptable during the first season, but removing the battery for charging and reinstalling it without pinching wires is a bit of a hassle.
All the family has enjoyed this product. They have spent many fun filled hours in the lake exploring along the shore line.
