The Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 headphones feature "on-demand noise cancelling," which means that you can turn noise cancellation on and off at the push of a button, depending on how important it is that you hear the outside world. This is an interesting variation on the system used by Sony with their MDR 1000X, where noise cancellation is on by default but goes away while you cover one earcup with your hand. Either way it's a handy feature, unless you live in total isolation from the world and don't need to hear the sound of speaking people or approaching vehicles. The batteries on the BackBeat Pro 2 are also rated for 24 hours, which is pretty good and better than the considerably more expensive Sony headphones. This unit isn't badly priced by premium headphone standards, so those features make it look like a pretty good deal.
Plantronics has been paring down the size of their headphones, with this model coming in at 15 percent lighter than their previous version, which means that you'll get at least 15 percent less of a neck ache if you wear them too long. The ear cups are padded, with controls for pausing and playing music. You can also use the headset with your smartphone, switching back and forth between a call from your mother and whatever you've been listening to as necessary. All that conversation combined with music or a podcast is a good reason for turning off the noise cancelling while crossing a street -- or waiting for your boarding call at the airport. Shutting off the outside world is a good way of getting hit by a car or missing your chance to get your carry-on luggage in the overhead rack before somebody else stuffs their sleeping bag in it.
There are other good noise-cancelling headphones on the market, at a range of prices. Try the Sony unit mentioned above or the even-more-expensive Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H9. For something a little less expensive, pick up a used Beats Studio Wireless. To leave the outside world completely and watch a movie (while sitting in a safe place), the Royole Royole-X headset will take you away.
Combine solid noise cancellation with Bluetooth connectivity, excellent sound, and a comfortable fit, all at a very reasonable price.
Did many hours of research before settling on the BackBeat Pro 2 headphones. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Outstanding value for money.
The Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 offer insane battery life, great sound quality and good active noise cancellation for the price.
The BackBeat Pro 2 is an excellent full-size wireless noise-cancelling headphone that costs nearly half as much as comparable models from Bose, Sony or Sennheiser.
It handles all genres of music well, is comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time, and has a great 24-hour battery life to boot.
The Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 have a lot to offer. Despite their plastic build, these cans feel sturdy and are very comfortable to wear - even for extended periods.
With the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 we've got a comfortable pair of wireless headphones, with every option out there, good sound and solid build quality.
The sound quality is good but the noise reduction is way less than my set of BOSE. The comfort and weight is also not as nice as the BOSE headphones I have.
These headphones are everything I imagined and more. It produces a beautiful "whole" 3D sound... Build wise, it looks pretty robust. Absolutely smashing!
Best buy in years. These work like a charm at home or in the gym. They are comfy and durable. All round, would totally buy again, good price for what you get.
