Face it: You worry more about the cat in your life than you do about your car. You might not be able to remember the last time you had your car's oil changed, but you know quite well when the last time was that you cleaned the cat's litter box or filled the food bowl, because it was probably only a few hours ago.
Modern science (and clumping litter) will let you go a day or two without cleaning the litter box, but the bottom of the food bowl always seems to make an unexpected appearance when it seems like you just filled it. Enter the automated cat feeder. While you quite possibly weren't paying attention, the bottomless (or nearly so) food bowl was invented. There are automated pet feeders available at several price points that will allow you to do everything from set a device to automatically dole out periodic portions of kibble to high-tech pet stations that will let you watch your pet and deliver doses of medicine remotely via smartphone.
The Cat Mate C3000 is at the low end of this automated food chain, but if all you need is a dispenser to reliably fill a bowl with dry cat (or, in some cases, dog) food, it looks likely to fill that need. It lets you set the portion size for meals, but will only dole out three servings a day, which is two less than the Pet Feedster Automated Feeder. Pet Mate claims that the C3000 can run continuously on a single set of batteries for six to nine months, which is a good thing because you'll have to reprogram the portion size after you change them.
Now if only the litter box could go six to nine months without changing. But self-cleaning litter boxes are a different product category.
Really good, enables cats to be fed at regular times. The top is easy to remove and the cats worked this out very quickly.
Quality product, perfect for my cats, precise clock, not too noisy, reliable. Bought it in Nov. 2013 and no problem since then.
Totally awesome, I bought this to use in advance of going away for a few days.
Great unit. My cats love it also, they wait for the "wrrrrr" and they know its time to eat.
