Who doesn't love cats? According to the internet, no one. Felines have their own shows, write books, and even have entire channels of YouTube devoted to their antics. As human populations increase, the number of their pets proceed apace because of all the population-increasing behaviors they engage in. There are hundreds of millions of cats living with people across the globe. And many of those people work, so they don't have time or aren't readily available to feed these cats. This is why automatic pet feeders have risen to the challenge.
They exist in all manner of form while providing similar function. For instance, the Petmate Aspen Pet Lebistro resembles a blender and is for both dogs and cats. Not to be confused with the Petmate Lebistro, the Pet-Mate line from Ani Mate has a an automatic cat feeder called the Cat Mate C20, which is a lot like the PetSafe Pet Pod insofar as they both have 2 meal trays. Ani Mate is a UK company established in 1986 that makes doggie doors, cat flaps, feeders, and fountains for humans' furry and fishy friends. The C20 lacks the sleek appearance of the Pet Pod, which is a digital feeder with an LCD display. The Cat Mate C20’s own timers are turned by hand, like a mechanical kitchen timer. The Cat Mate C20 can feed one or two cats or kittens or even small dogs, though considering the name of the unit, you could just give the dog the canine feeder from the same company and avoid product misappropriation.
Like the Pet Pod, the Cat Mate is not for those cat owners who plan to stay away for a long while although the timer on each lid of the C20 can be set to open up to 48 hours later. Another advantage over the Pet Pod is that the C20's food is kept fresh and cool by an ice pack that rests underneath the food tray. The two food bowls each hold 1 lb. of wet food, and are removable and dishwasher-proof. A single AA battery powers the C20's timer for up to 12 months. Although this feeder is highly rated, it looks a bit flimsy when compared to the Pet Pod.
Dry food tends to get caught inside the frame of the feeder and you have to shake it around in different positions to get it out.
Only down side is the ticking noise. Strangely one feeder is noisier than the other, but they do tick (like a loud clock) but you get used to it!
I like this feeder because you can set any time increment for feedings, so it allows me a lot more options.
The time dials don't seem to be precise but good enough to make sure she gets fed properly when we're away for extended times.
The timer is really reliable, the battery life exceptional, and there is the option to utilize an ice pack to keep the food fresh.
The timer has delivered food reliably during the tests we did and for the 5-6 proper feeds that it has been used for so far.
This product is good overall, but it is hard to set exact time, not ideal to feed two cats at once.
This is a certain solution. Put his dry food in at night, set the number of hours on the mechanical timer and voila, instant morning feed.
