Dental care in the modern age is vastly superior to, and a far cry from, the dentistry of our ancestors. We may not know how prehistoric humans cleaned their own teeth, though one supposes that tooth-cleaning implements may have included fingernails, bones, or one's hair. And while the results were no doubt crude and hilarious, at some point, self-dental care evolved to include the dental practitioner; thus, the universal terror of the dentist was born. These days, thanks to home care devices such as dental water jets and electric toothbrushes, superior oral hygiene is easily attained; now users look forward to the dentist just to show off their choppers.
For the 21st century brusher, the Oral-B Smartseries Pro 5000 possesses the features of its Oral B Pro 3000 models. For instance, 3D cleaning oscillates, rotates and pulsates. There is an in-handle timer that pulses every 30 seconds to let the user know when to switch to another area, as well as a pressure sensor alert to assure that teeth remain that the end of the cleaning. And of course, the Pro 5000 has Oral-B's CrossAction round brush head with angled bristles. Unlike the previous Oral-B Pros, this one has five cleaning modes: the Daily Clean mode; the Massage Mode for gum stimulation; the Sensitive mode which operates at a lower speed; the Whitening mode for polishing; and the Deep Clean mode for hard to reach areas.
What makes this toothbrush stand out from its nearest competitor, the Philips Sonicare Flexcare, is its Bluetooth connectivity. An Oral-B app allows the user to get real-time feedback on brushing habits. There are news and weather reports, oral care tips and rewards, graphs and charts, and up to 6 months of storage of brushing habits. Included are one rechargeable toothbrush handle, one CrossAction brush head, a charging station with brush head storage, and a handy travel case.
Works wonderful and cleans better than any manual toothbrush.
Thorough cleaning and gentle on gums while making sure you brush for the right length of time and using the right amount of pressure.
I liked the toothbrush and its features but after a year of use, the battery won't hold a charge for more than a day.
The thick brush makes it hard to move it around in your mouth while keeping your lips sealed. The result is toothpaste and saliva all over the handle and on your hand.
Overall the app is good as it tracks and gives reminders for flossing, tongue cleaning, and rinsing as well, it brought me into a good discipline.
