If anything will get your kids to brush their teeth regularly, it's an electric toothbrush with a picture of Olaf, the loveable snowman from the Disney movie Frozen, on the side of the box. That irrepressible single-toothed grin, that protuberant carrot nose, that tuft of vegetable matter mysteriously growing from the top of his head -- how could anyone under the age of 12 find Olaf anything except irresistible? Of course, what a snowman, loveable or otherwise, has to do with toothcare is anybody's guess. And since there's no picture of Olaf on the toothbrush itself, you may need to refer to the Oral-B Pro-Health Kids electric toothbrush as the "Olaf brush" to make sure that kids make the connection.
The Oral-B people have wisely extended the Disney appeal beyond the toothbrush itself and into the accompanying Disney Magic Timer smartphone app, which gradually "unlocks" additional Frozen characters the more the child brushes. To enforce good brushing habits, the Pro-Health Kids makes sounds every 30 seconds to remind the user that it's time to start brushing different parts of the mouth, with a distinct sound after two minutes to indicate that brushing time is over and there won't be any more of Olaf, Anna and Elsa until at least the next brushing.
The brush, which is fairly inexpensive as electric toothbrushes go, comes with two replacement heads and a rechargeable battery, though not a recharger to hold the unit while it's not in use. The Pro-Health Kids gets very strong reviews from online reviewers, which suggests that kids are not only happy to brush their teeth with it, but that it actually works. For another toothbrush that will tempt young users into taking charge of their dental care, look at the Kolibree, which comes with a brushing-related smartphone game.
Product is barely a month old and doesn't take a charge.
The Oral B toothbrush is easier to keep clean than the previous brand I tried, too. These brushes last a long while, and don't damage my gums.
Great product. Charging stand works well. The replaceable heads last quite a while, too. Easy to clean, and my toddler loves it.
Bought this for my daughter, she uses it daily for 2-3 minutes and we took it on a trip for 4 days without any battery problem.
My son had braces and this brush allows him to get around the braces better.
They get your teeth clean without doing any damage to the enamel, and they do the best job of massaging your gums.
After less than two months the toothbrush stopped recharging.
