Overwhelmingly, the drone scene has been dominated by glorioius quadcopters, their four propellers likely immediately called to mind in some form upon mere mention of the word "drone." But, as any experienced drone flier knows, the quadcopter is far from the only form factor on the scene. Drones like the Parrot Disco and the Team Blacksheep Caipirinha eschew propellers almost entirely, opting instead for a winged glider approach that offers a completely different flying experience. The MJX X601H, one of MJX's several hexacopters, doesn't break quite so far from what has evolved into the more traditional drone form, but the additional rotors add speed and stability to the bot when compared with similar quadcopters.
The X601H is, above all, a fantastic deal—and i don't use that adjective lightly. We'll get its worst characteristic out of the way first: the range of 70 meters is, while certainly sufficient for a quick flight, roughly 20 meters less than the unofficial standard for drones of this relatively low price. But for a sub-$80 hexacopter, the MJX X601H is positively loaded with features. Altitude hold is invaluable for capturing still pictures, and one-button-return is one of the most convenient features a drone can have. Perhaps most impressive is the autopilot function, which allows pilots to draw a pre-planned flight path on their smartphone which the X601H will subsequently follow. This is another tool for the budding drone artist, enabling the capturing of specific and planned sequences, as well as a cool parlor trick. Add in an eight minute flight time (above average for the price range), and a simple but sleek look, and you have rounded out the case for MJX X601H being drone deal of the decade.
Curious about the advantages hexacopters bring to the table? MJX specializes in them, as both this and their wider catalogue show, and if you're prepared to take a significant price hike and move into the big-time of drone flying and filming, do check out the Yuneec Tornado.
Overall my kids are extremely satisfied with this drone and we would definitely purchase it again and have actually already recommended it to some of the neighborhood kids...
This is a very nice flying quadcopter. It's very stable in flight. The altitude hold works very well. Overall this is a great quadcopter. I would recommend this.
Overall, the X601H is in a class with few rivals, being a hexacopter. It also flips remarkably well for a drone that has altitude hold and has a really good looking exterior.
Very great flyer! Just like it's predecessor X600. It's stable and very easy to fly. It's onboard camera is too laggy with only 480p, not recommended for fpv.
It is very aggressive and unstable. The alt hold does not works fine. While I am flying at middle throttle, suddenly falls down aggressively.
Overall, MJX X601H is a great drone for those looking for a stable hexacopter with a wide set of useful and fun features. Definitely a great value for your money...
I am a beginner in flying multirotors, but this copter is very durable, has taken many beatings... It is also pretty stable in low as well as high flight.
Of all the drones I've flown this is definitely the easiest. It really is incredibly simple and it'll have you flying like a pro in no time. The best MJX drone so far.
