Editorial Review

Maytronics likes to advertise the features of its Dolphin pool cleaners right in the name of the product. The Maytronics Dolphin Nautilus with CleverClean comes with, you guessed it, CleverClean, a navigation system that scans the shape of the pool and plots out a course that will get the job done in under two hours. Maytronics specifies that this unit is for pools up to 40 feet in length, so larger pools probably wouldn't be cleaned that fast (and the Nautilus's cable probably wouldn't reach the other end anyway, so the point is moot). The unit's bristly "active brushes" scrape up crud from the bottom and sides of the pool so that the vac can suck them up and deposit them in its internal bin. A special feature even cleans the pool's drain. At least it's advertised as a special feature. It may just be the same bristles from the active brushes snaking their way down into the drain holes on their way past.

One of the most striking features of the Nautilus with CleverClean is how light it is: only 13 pounds, so the walk from your storage unit to the pool won't be any more difficult than carrying a stuffed grocery bag into your house. Perhaps because of its light weight and clever pool scanning, the unit is also energy efficient, costing what Maytronics estimates is only five cents per hour to run. The power supply, which is even more high-tech looking than the vac itself, sits by the pool and can be used to schedule days when the Nautilus will strut its underwater stuff. The on-off switch on the power supply lets you shut the vac down when you want to get in for a swim or just want to pull it out by the cable and place it out of harm's way.

Amazon reviews for the unit are slightly iffy, averaging 3-1/2 stars, with at least one user complaining the bot doesn't pick up algae. If you want to look elsewhere for a poolvac, start with the Aquabot Rapids XLS, the oh-so-cute Kokido Turbo-Klean or any of about a thousand other models from Maytronics, like the Maytronics Dolphin Cayman.

This cleaner does a great job! It climbs the walls and gets all areas of the floor. Very easy to empty basket. Love this cleaner!

It constantly crawls up and over the top edge of the pool and stops working there! A constant problem!

Received my Nautilus a few weeks ago and it has worked excellent every time I've had it in my inground pool. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Goes in pattern but will not completely clean the pool. Leaves many places unclean after 2 rounds In pool. Do not recommend.

I was amazed at how well this thing cleans the pool. Within 2 hours there wasn't a spec left at the bottom of the pool. This cleaner is a must have!
