Editorial Review

The Levoit Hybrid Ultrasonic combines a cool mist humidifier and a warm mist humidifier with an aromatherapy device, so if those are the features you're looking for, even a brand new model is a surprisingly good bargain. If you need to moisten your skin and clear your sinuses and feel that the wafting scent of essential oils extracted from exotic plants lowers your stress levels and brightens your day, Levoit has you covered. The Hybrid Ultrasonic is quiet, so you can keep it next to your bed without waking up to nightmares about being attacked by hissing snakes and there's a timer that lets you program it to shut off after 1 to 12 hours of operation. (It will also shut off when it runs out of water.)

The tank can be pulled from its perch for easy refilling, so you don't need to keep the unit close to a water source. You can set the relative humidity level between 20 and 80 percent; the unit's built-in hygrometer senses the surrounding water vapor level and turns on or off as necessary. And you can put droplets of essential oils, which will gum up the works on most humidifiers, into a small compartment on the side. There's no water filter, so you'll need to clean the unit weekly to scour potential bacterial cultures away and you should probably clean the Aroma Pad after use so that you (and the humidifier) don't overdose on essential oils.

The mist nozzles dispense a fine cloud of particles in all directions, so you can place this unit almost anywhere. A small remote control lets you turn the device on and off, toggle the warm mist function, set the humidity and mist levels, and turn on the timer, so you don't even need to get off your couch or out of bed to operate the Hybrid Ultrasonic's controls.

If you're looking for both a humidifier and an aromatherapy device, this unit may be all you need. The Smiley Daisy Ultrasonic has a similar range of features, but doesn't offer the user quite as much control. If you just need a humidifier, look at the Air Innovations MH-801B or the Miro CleanPot.

I love this humidifier. It sits on a side table by my couch and provides the moisture for comfort. It's big enough so I don't have to replace water constantly.

It's very quiet and the digital display can be turned off for better sleep. There are two nozzles to direct the mist which was brilliant! The remote control is nice to have.
