iRobot isn't just known for their vacuums, they have an entire line of mopbots too. The iRobot Braava 380t looks like a black version of the company's Braava 320, and it's able to sweep 1000 square feet and mop up to 350 square feet per cleaning cycle. It comes with the NorthStar Navigation cube, which acts like an indoor GPS, to help the robot keep track of where it's been and where it has to go. The 380t works with a variety of cleaning cloths and pads that can be used with water or a mild cleaning agent. Sweeping is done in straight back-and-forth lines in order to pick up hair, dust, and dirt. The 2000 mAh NiMH rechargeable battery provides 210 minutes of sweeping or 150 minutes of mopping per charge. This unit includes an NA adapter, 2 C batteries for the NorthStar Cube, 1 microfiber mopping cloth, 1 microfiber damp cloth, a multipurpose cleaning pad, a Pro-Clean reservoir pad, and a Turbo Charge cradle. Note that the robot does not have an automatic recharge feature.
Robot floor cleaners have cemented their place within the domestic sphere. It's nice to have house bots that'll sweep, vacuum, mop, and sterilize the floors if for no other reason than they keep humans from having to do those things themselves. Because let's face it, floor cleaning is a thankless task. People have become quite good at delegating such things to others, and robots don't need time off except to recharge. Bots give humans more leisure time, which presumably includes tracking dirt onto the very floors they've just finished cleaning. However, unlike people, bots don't complain about it. So far.
Among the uncomplaining models from iRobot, the Braava 320 has a dust mop that's good for 800 square feet and a wet mop for 250 square feet. Both the Scooba 390 and Scooba 450 are round floorbots that use clean liquid to mop the floors, with the 450 possessing a dual tank and audible cues.
The only thing I really do not like is the way the reservoir cracked so easily. I don't like spending money when I don't have to so I handle this product very carefully.
I was impressed with the unit's ability to keep track of where it had been and the battery life of 3 mopping sessions before battery recharge.
It's perfectly fine for a quick cleaning, especially if you usually keep things tidy, but you'll need to put in some of your own manpower on tough stains and spills.
. . . It did a great job cleaning the marks of the floor, it will also pickup any hair and bits from the floor as they stick to the microfiber cloth.
I ran it on the dirtiest hardwood room in my house . . . in one session, the Braava brought my floors back to loveliness. I'm so impressed.
It’s important to note that the Braava 380t is able to detect where rugs are, and thus, it won’t mop on them.
The downside to this is that the Braava can't possibly return to its charging position automatically, like other cleaners can.
The NorthStar Navigation System works like an indoor GPS that helps Braava keep track of where it has been and where it needs to go.
. . . I found it did about 200 sq. feet of floor before it ran out of power. That doesn't even cover my kitchen + eating area let alone the rest of the floor.
