Editorial Review

Millennials, known for destroying the staid industries that have built the modern world, have recently set perhaps their most ambitious target yet in their collective crosshairs: Big Auto. With young people the world over fretting overmuch about their carbon footprint and being wholly unable to afford a car or insurance, young do-gooders with big dreams and empty pockets are increasingly turning to personal electric vehicles to get from A to B. While electric scooters typically remain the domain of cute little kids and older folks reclaiming their mobility with style, some electric scooters are targeted at this new generation of cost and environmentally conscious commuters. The Hover 1 XLS is a good example of one such scooter.

Electric bikes are great—they're relatively fast, typically run for 20-50 miles, and can be pedaled in the event of a dead battery. The biggest inconvenience they present to the modern commuter is their bulk. The XLS addresses this problem head on. Fully folded, the XLS takes up rather little space, and can be stood up vertically for maximal convenience (key for smaller offices and workspaces). Hover 1 has fitted this scooter with a sleek, futuristic design, with a nifty little LCD display between the handlebars displaying an odometer, speedometer, the outside temperature, and the battery life. The XLS is fully road ready, with headlights, turn signals, a rear brake light, and a digital horn providing riders with optimal safety. A quiet machine (as electric vehicles tend to be), the XLS can reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour and a range of around 20 miles, certifying this scooter as a bona fide urban commuter.

This scooter has decent power. The pick up is not bad. Nice stopping power too...battery is not strong enough for a long trip.

A little heavy lifting in and out of the car. Sensitive steering at speed. Not enough power to get up to advertised speed if you weigh over 200 lbs...still fun and convenient.

The digital black and white gauges display are helpful...Disc brakes worked great in stopping and also the front shocks in riding on a rocky path really helped.

Works like a charm. Right out of the box the bike was completely assembled, even the tire pressure was on point. Super portable.
