Editorial Review

Personal transport vehicles, or PTVs, aren't just convenient, they offer emissions-free travel, making them environmentally friendly as well. Some are dynamo-powered, like bicycles and push scooters, while others are driven by electric motors. Electric scooters such as the Dynacraft Hot Wheels 24V for little boys and the Uberscoot 800W Citi for bigger ones use human and electric power. Many of the grown-up scooters are ideal for "last mile" transportation, a term used in regards to the challenges in getting people from a transport hub to their final destination.

One manufacturer that specializes in last mile transport is Probity Cell LLC, founded in 2012. The stated mission of this tiny company is to create portable "last mile transportation devices that leverage the lithium ion battery while shortening commute times." So they created the Glion Dolly, a serious looking, rechargeable folding electric scooter. Weighing a mere 26 lbs., it has a weight capacity of 220 lbs. Its top speed is 15 mph, which makes it substantially slower than the Uber Scoot Citi but slightly faster than the Acton M Scooter.

It can go up to 15 miles on a single charge which is about 5 miles more than the Uber Scoot but almost half of the range of the Acton M. The Glion Dolly runs on a 250-watt brushless electric hub motor and a Samsung 36-volt li-ion battery which takes about 3.5 hours to charge and should last for 3 to 5 years. An electronic anti-lock, maintenance-free brake is located in the rear hub motor. The body is made of T6 aircraft-grade powder-coated aluminum, and the tires are 8-inch honeycomb never-flats. The Glion Dolly also has a set of casters which allow the scooter to be pulled around and to stand upright. The Dolly does not have nor does it advertise a potent motor. It is not a high-performance vehicle that can be driven everywhere, and it does not have a flashy design. However, user ratings are overwhelmingly positive, a sign that perhaps this product performs the last mile function for which it was built.

This product is both fun and practical. I've been using mine for that last mile for about 6 month now and it has been super reliable...
