For those looking to wash their windows without having to actually wash their windows, they can either hire a window washer or buy a window washing robot. Companies like Hobot Technology offer the Hobot 168, a second generation window wash-bot with round scrubbing wheels. It is limited to framed windows and tables, and tight corners may be missed because of its shape.
Ecovacs Robotics also produces window wash-bots. One example is the Winbot W730 which is square and can clean framed and unframed windows of any size or thickness, including Thermopane, as well as mirrors and doors. Like the Hobot, the Winbot has an on-board motor that uses vacuum suction, which sticks it to the glass, and an on-board back-up battery in case of AC power failure from the wall outlet. Once the Winbot is placed on the glass, it will automatically determine the window's size, map a cleaning path, clean the window and then return to its starting position. The Winbot W730 cleans by first removing the dirt with the front cleaning pad. Then its squeegee wipes away liquid-borne dirt. This feature is almost a necessity, and will hopefully remain a product standard. Lastly, the rear cleaning pad wipes and dries the surface. Sensors and an on-board Pathfinder intelligence enables the Winbot to navigate around obstacles, a feature similar to the Hobot's AI.
All window wash-bots have an inherent safety concern, namely that vibrations from the motor may cause minute cracking in the glass or worse. Therefore, on the Hobot, a safety rope is provided. On the Winbot, a safety pod and tether are attached to the window. Also, the Winbot has dual suction rings in case one should fail, the other one can keep the robot on the glass until a human rescues it. The entire package includes 2 AAA batteries, 3 sets of microfiber cleaning pads, 1 finishing cloth, 1 extension cord and 1 reusable storage box.
This tool made all our life easier. Very recommendable both for product performance and customer support.
This product is a great idea with a very poor execution. The Winbot is a total disappointing waste of time and money.
The Ecovacs Winbot W730 robot aims to clean your windows, but proves that some household chores are simply better tackled by hand.
It shines all my windows which I can't reach from outside and also washes my mirrors. In the end it reduces my work and keeps me non-dependent on anyone else. Happy!
I bought it new and unfortunately am not satisfied! He stays often stand in the window or not start!
Our Winbot has been found to be useful buddy. He is working properly, will not fall off and provides a satisfactory cleaning result. He also impressed our little boy.
