Domestic robots make living easier by doing the chores of human domestics. Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and even washing windows have fallen to the favor of bots that never demand time off or complain about having to sleep in the closet. Some of the first home bots were round little robovacs like the Clean-Mate QQ5 Plus. Other crossover bots can vacuum and mop, such as the iLife V5.
From Ecovacs, the company which created the Ecovacs Winbot W930, comes the Deebot DM85, a robomopper with a typically robovac shape. It operates with 2 interchangeable suction settings -- the Main Brush option for deep cleaning and the Direct Suction option for daily cleaning. This second option is good for gathering up human and pet hair without unfortunate brush tangling. A Smart Clean mopping system uses an integrated water reservoir that automatically dampens half of the Smart Clean cloth, then dries the floor. The Main Agitator brush floats to adjust to and clean uneven surfaces. 4 modes are available for all types of floors including short pile carpet, hardwood, linoleum, tile, and marble -- Automatic, Intensive, Edge, and Spot. The DM85 can also select the most effective cleaning mode and pattern based on the environment using a pair of highly sensitive dust sensors. It has 10 groups of sensors to detect objects in its path and navigate around them. There are 3 groups of sensors that can detect a drop-off larger than 3.1 inches, so the robot can mop up to and around stairs without plummeting.
The DM85 can be programmed for daily cleanings via remote control. It cleans up to 120 minutes per charge and automatically returns to the charging dock when finished or famished, after which the charging dock goes into low-energy mode. This mopbot comes with an assortment of goodies including a battery pack, a charging dock with power adapter, a reusable storage box, and an instruction manual. There are also 4 sweeper side brushes and a removable bag-less dustbin with a replaceable filter. A removable reservoir, measuring cup, 2 washable Smart Clean cloths, 1 cleaning tool, and an LED infrared remote control complete the package.
I was pleasantly surprised by its cleaning efficiency. Certainly it is not in the best vacuum cleaners and scrubbers robots but it will provide an acceptable work in 2 modes .
The side brushes bend easy, as after 2 uses it got bent out of shape. The brushes have a rube holding them, instead of being completely loos for it to snap back.
DM85 did not get stuck once yet, and I've charged and run it seven times total . . . this excellent navigation is probably the biggest improvement over older Deebot models.
An efficient vacuum that does not fear the pet hair. It goes everywhere and makes a meticulous work even in the corners.
DM85 works on short pile carpet, hardwood, linoleum, tile, marble and more . . . and uses its intelligence to determine which mode is best for the floor type.
