If thermostatic control sounds like a superhero power, then it would be a mighty one -- behold Thermo! Making rooms uncomfortable for his adversaries since the late 19th century! The ability to manipulate indoor conditions such as temperature and humidity is something to not take lightly. After all, health is very much affected by what it's like inside the home or office, especially since most folks in the US spend relatively little time outdoors. Where once home thermostats used traditional bi-metallic strip sensors, they now come with electronic sensors, digital programming, remote control operation, and more capabilities. In other words, they have become smarter.
For example, the Honeywell TH9320WF5003 has 5 system modes, 4 fan modes, and can be set in English, French, or Spanish. The American Standard Gold 824 Nexia Control can be programmed for up to 6 daily heating and cooling schedules. The Ecobee Ecobee3 2nd Generation has a nifty Free Cooling function, which cools the home using outside air, and Optimal Humidity for preventing frost buildup in homes with humidifiers. While not as smart, the ecobee Smart 2 comes with its own set of bennies, including 365-day Scheduling and Vacation Programming.
The Smart 2 furnishes a monthly report showing energy usage and savings while monitoring the home's efficiency. This report, along with settings and systems status, can be accessed and controlled with any Web-enabled device. The thermostat itself has built-in Wi-Fi. The ecobee app is downloadable for Android, Blackberry, or iPhone. This ecobee has a full color touch screen with a slider control, which might be difficult for users with larger fingers. It comes with a personal web portal, DataRhythm Technology, automated alerts and reminders, live weather, and free software upgrades. It works in most homes and is compatible with conventional, heat pump, dual-fuel, auxiliary, as well as gas, oil, and electric systems. It can be used in conjunction with humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilators. The entire package is completed by an equipment interface module, installation manual, and a quick-start guide. Users appear to like the product but the installation is tricky.
Not as hard to install as I expected, and fantastic functionality. Simple every day use with an easy interface, but allows you to configure things extensively...
We like these thermostats for the ease of operation, good build quality... These allow the user a lot of control for comfort, as well as energy usage monitoring and reports.
The ecobee zigbee is a data crunching techie’s dream but it lags behind the competition on user interface design, screen usability.
I love this thermostat even if it's not the sexiest thing to put on a wall, it's ok but it wouldn't win any prizes but this thing is so powerful and versatile.
Great product! Easy to install and easy to use from you phone of tablet.
I have had it running for over one year now. No problems. Great apps on ios and android so you can control your thermostat when you're on traveling.
I have owned this product for many years now. I love it. Ecobee is always updating it with new features and it has worked flawlessly.
Excellent product. Easy to use color touch screen with good features. Temperate control a little cumbersome to move back and forth.
Install wasn't hard. Ecobee support was excellent. It has the features to allow notifications for flood sensors or whatever you need...
Managing settings is very responsive. We have never had issues with connectivity to the thermostat or the ecobee web site... Would highly recommend.
