Editorial Review

Delonghi machines are well-renowned in the world of high-end home espresso machines, and the Eletta Cappuccino Top serves only to further develop that great reputation. Following in the Delonghi tradition of exotic names for beautiful machines (can you imagine a coffee from something called the Nespresso Latissima Pro not being delicious?), the Eletta is roughly comparable with the Maginifica in terms of price, quality, and versatility, slating it above the Lattissima in terms of those aforementioned factors and below the grand Prima Donna Exclusive.

The Eletta Cappuccino Top is what is known as a "bean-to-cup" machine, with a 400 gram bean intake positioned atop the machine to grind those beans up nice and fresh. However, if you do happen to pick up a bag of grounds, the Eletta has a handy little chute in the middle just for that purpose—something not often seen in this type of machine. The "Top Crema" system, repurposed from that top-end Prima Donna line, allows you to easily adjust the consistency of your frothed milk with the touch of a button—though it can be switched out for a more traditional steamer quite easily if you so desire.

Like most similarly priced machines, this one engages in a self-cleaning routine upon start-up. Also like any machines of this price, regular upkeep aside from the automated variety is recommended to nip clogging and other issues in the bud, and Delonghi makes this easy by making the parts most needing manual maintenance part of the same removable tray. Capable of pressures up to 15 bar, the Eletta can produce basically any coffee beverage you desire, and regularly consumed drinks can be saved to a "My Coffee" setting after being customized to your exact specifications. The sum of these features is quite clear: after a big up front cost, you get great coffee right in the home with virtually no more effort than is needed for a standard pot—maybe even less.

Quick to start. The same heat of the coffee every time. Good coffee in addition. Easy to set up. Easy to skim milk at the touch so it is automatic. Excellent!

The device surprised me with a very simple preparation of the drink, which is mainly contributed by the clear display and touch keys. Control is also very intuitive...

The machine takes a while to get the right grind, the right strength, the right temperature. When it all comes together you can repeat that perfect coffee every time.

I am using it for 4 months. The usage is simple in general. You can make a cup of coffee with a single button after the pause. More than enough!

After a half-year use I can recommend. It works very well, maintenance is simple, it says all the operations itself. And mainly, it produces great coffee!
