In 2004, in the country of Cyprus, archaeologists unearthed a 9,500 grave dating back to the Neolithic Era. In it was found the remains of both a human and a cat, laid carefully side-by-side -- as clear a gesture of eternal love as can be received by a nearly 10,000 year old corpse. So deep, it would seem, runs humankind's bond with our fuzzy feline friends.
As any casual browser of the internet can support, a healthy fascination with cats has driven much of the internet's expansion in terms of popularity and mass adoption. Images of furballs in a variety of goofy activity have been an internet mainstay since the early days; in a sense, botdb, like the first farmers after finding their feline varmint solution, has had its way paved for it by the adorable creatures which so often take up residence in our homes and hearts.
One of the worst parts of welcoming these little miracles into your life is contending with the waste disposal method society has conferred onto us for our friends. Litterboxes are objectively gross and smelly. Cats with a predilection towards kicking litter onto their droppings make smelly, sandy messes out of otherwise perfectly kept lavatories. Some cats get taught to operate toilets, which is both awesome and ridiculously cute, but for the average laykitty, that just isn't an option.
Luckily for beleaguered cat owners worldwide, the litterbox industry is finally making some progress with our collective concerns. Catgenie, the geniuses behind a variety of alternative kitty litter options, has created another winning product with their Genie Dome. Attachable to a water source for self-cleaning, the Genie Dome (when it works right -- which is usually) is a self-cleaning litter box whose fresh scent has the stench of traditional kitty litter beat by a clear margin. Additionally, the Dome's, well, dome provides for both an adorable wall of privacy for our ever self-conscious creature companions, as well as serving the practical purpose of never having to inadvertently see excrement emerge from your cat's butt again. The Genie Dome is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
With the exception of some occasional bad odor when drying, it is a good product.
I have a deeply set love-hate relationship with this product. On one hand it does exactly what it says it will do - clean cat crap so I don't have to.
The CatGenie has set me free from the drudgery of cleaning litter every day for three cats. I set it up by myself and I am 63.
This definitely reduces the amount of tracking. Used with a rubber tracking mat, it really cuts down on the mess that I had without them.
The best litter box ever invented. Easy to install, no smell and never touch it. It is well worth the money. My cats love it.
We bought this to hopefully keep more of the litter in the cat box. The cats seem to be tracking out less of the expensive cat genie litter.
My cats were used to a covered litter box so I believe the dome makes them feel more at home. Less granules get kicked everywhere, overall good purchase.
Saves the messy litter clean ups. Easy to assemble. The only thing I didn't like was the odd time a little piece of cat poop got left in the litter and made a horrible smell.
