Is there any limit to the number of common household devices that some ingenious team of inventors can't retrofit to become part of the Internet of Things? Probably not. Name a household appliance and somebody has probably both automated it and created an app for it. As candidates for smartphone control go, sprinkler systems are a no-brainer. If you have one of those lawn sprinklers that's divided up into multiple sectors, each of which can be individually programmed to go off on different days of the week at different times, all controlled from a cryptic control panel in an ill-lit outside corner of the house, you're probably already clicking on the link that will tell you how much a product like the Blossom 12 Zone Smart Watering Controller costs. Before you do, though, you might want to see what it does.
The 12-Zone lets you set the schedule for as many as 12 sprinkler zones from a smartphone app (and, because you can also activate sprinklers with a tap of the app, you can test out sprinkler function at any time.) You might not need to set the schedule yourself, because -- no offense -- it's possible that the 12-Zone is smarter that you are. It downloads climate information for your location from the Internet, factors in the needs of your vegetation and will set up a default schedule that matches your needs, with real-time weather information taken into account just in case there's an unexpected wet spell or dry spell.
Whether you want a sprinkler system that does that much of your thinking for you is a matter of taste, but you can override the 12-Zone's decisions. And in case of rain, you might want to hit the Off button on the app, because the 12-Zone can't actually notice that it's getting wet. It's not that smart.
The Blossom12 Zone Smart Watering Controller with WiFi Plus Powerline Self Scheduling Sprinkler Irrigation System is easy to install.
I love that this goes out to the weather service apps to determine how much and if I need to water. The app is very easy to use. And this was super easy to set up
Super easy installation! Tests went great now to see how it performs on the scheduling. I'd like to see 2x a day too but maybe it's "smart" enough to figure it out.
Powerline connection for internet access was quick to set up but after installation since the WiFi signal in the garage is good, I decided to switch to Wifi.
The whole idea of a WiFi controller is to be able to easily control your sprinkler from a simple app; all the other apps I tried did not come close in comparison.
Have had one for 6 months and have had no issues. And it helped me reduce my water usage 42%! They have added some features to the app, which are great.
I have received my blossom and installed it without issues, however i noticed the app does not support multiple start times per zone.
Having its own rain sensor would be nice. I also don't like that the controller has no inputs , screens etc. tTis is definitely a web base product.
System works as described and is constantly updating and improving the software. The software is awesome.
The app is good, the ability to mount indoors our out and the power line network connection round out a good product for a good price.
This was super easy to install and setup. I use my iPhone to run 1 station alone of setup a schedule.
