What would it be like to get a massage in space?

The Apex AP-Pro Ultra Zero Gravity Massage Chair, with its "NASA-inspired technology," raises that question even while it fails to answer it. So we'll answer it instead. For starters, you'd have to be braced against a surface before getting a massage in a free-falling orbital spacecraft. If you weren't, the push of the masseur's hands against your muscles would propel you forward, for a gentle (or not so gentle) smack against the bulkhead. Even if you were braced, the masseur's pressure on your body would push the masseur away in the direction of the opposite bulkhead, putting a quick end to the massage. This means the masseur would have to be braced against a surface too.

Conclusion: A massage in space would be pretty much like a massage anywhere else, but more dangerous.

Nonetheless, the AP-Pro Ultra has a zero-gravity position that looks incredibly comfortable. The chair tilts backwards to the point where all weight is on your back to maximize the pressure of the massage. Never mind that no one has weight in zero gravity. Given that other massage chairs (e.g., the Infinity IT-9800) also offer a zero-gravity position, this misunderstanding of basic physics appears to be rampant.

The actual massage is performed by rollers that run from your neck all the way down to the gluteus maximus, the muscle you sit on in a normal chair. In addition, the AP-Pro Ultra has 30 airbags that massage your shoulders, waist, calves and feet. You can use the remote to choose massage type, speed and intensity, or move the massage to the spot where it's needed.

The AP-Pro Ultra also has a "twist program" that will sway your pelvis back and forth. This is probably fun in a gravitational field, but be warned that it could be fatal in outer space.

Assembly was very easy to do. Everything was set up you just have to put on the foot portion. This chair has a very intense neck, shoulder, calf and foot roller massage.

The calf rollers are awesome. I'm also a big believer in the extended roller track - a chair without that feature is just old technology in my opinion.

The chair feels like being cocooned in warm, relaxing, comfort and with using a meditation. The chair has become part of my unwinding routine to get ready for sleep.

The quality of the chair seems good and I am happy with the overall massage. The foot rollers can be pretty intense so I usually wear lightweight slippers.

The rollers are pretty deep but that’s precisely what I was looking for. The rollers in the calf and the bottom on the feet are pure bliss and are a welcome feature.
