The Airhogs Helix Sentinel finds for itself a very effective niche in a highly populous drone market. Too well-equipped and functional with too nice of a camera to be classed with the toy drones, yet far less expensive than the snooty market leaders running the pack, the Helix Sentinel is a solid option for families on a budget and conservative photography hobbyists alike.
One of the niftier toys the Helix Sentinel packages with the drone, one that serves both aforementioned customers well, is the FPV (first person view) headset. Strap on the headset and redefine bird's eye view – but watch out for accompanying feelings of vertigo. Another solid feature is the obstacle avoidance system, with sensors located all around the base of the drone. The sensors work best indoors, but they still provide some reassurance for parents concerned that their overeager children may make short work of their most recent investment. The auto-takeoff functionality provides yet another amenity typically only seen for three times the price.
Big kudos to Air Hogs – it's hard to innovate in such a crowded industry without ramping up price, and they have successfully done just this with the Helix Sentinel. Between the bevvy of features, the camera, and the Google Cardboard-esque VR FPV viewer, the Helix Sentinel packs a whole lot of "wow factor" into the box it comes in.
The Helix Sentinel Drone is fun for the whole family! I was pleasantly surprised at how well the drone functioned. It is very easy to operate and flies extremely smooth.
Definitely recommend for anyone looking to get started in drones. Best part is you can play yourself or share the fun with family and friends.
Easy to control and great video too. The goggles are a fun and exciting addition to get that firsthand view. Love love love it! What a fun device!
