Editorial Review

The AcuRite 01525 Pro 5-in-1 PC Connect is one of the company's high-end models, with the 5-in-1 outdoor monitor handling temperature, humidity, rainfall and letting you know both how fast the wind is blowing and where it's blowing from. This isn't the top-of-the-line outdoor monitor with its dual solar panels, though it's likely that AcuRite will let you trade up to it if you have any trouble with measurement accuracy. And if you were longing for AcuRite's full-color indoor monitor to decorate your desktop the included black and white LCD display may be visually disappointing, but it makes up for that by packing even more information into its wealth of screen space. As always with AcuRite, the system is modular, so you can upgrade components that you'd rather not have, but genuine weather enthusiasts may find that this is all they need.

It also offers a USB connection between your display and your computer, so you can upload data directly to sites like Weather Underground, where you'll find a community of fellow enthusiasts who will be happy to know what's going on weather-wise in your backyard and will happily share what's going on in theirs. It used to be a common saying that people came to the Internet for information, but stayed for the community. The AcuRite 01525 gives you both in a single package. When you walk through a storm you can hold your head up high, because you'll know you aren't walking alone. (Thank you, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, for predicting this entire system in one song from a 1945 musical.)

The display includes "indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, wind speed, wind direction, wind chill, rain, barometric pressure, clock, calendar and more." It also has AcuRite's usual configurable weather ticker to stream weather data across the bottom of the screen so you can stare at your purchase for many hours of delighted wonder after your family has gone to sleep. For a more expensive unit with a color version of this display, try the AcuRite 01058RM. Or blow out the budget completely with the Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2.

Setup was super easy, and it's been working flawlessly ever since...For the price, this unit would be hard to beat.

The wireless range is excellent...Outside remote designed to resist weather damage. Easy to set up. Easy to use.

Very amusing but it is also informative. It tells me more than I need to know about the weather, and I love it.
