The AcuRite 01075RM is a strong entry in AcuRite's vast lineup of weather stations. It has their 5-in-1 outdoor sensor, their colorful indoor display with weather data streamer, and it can share your local data with the Weather Underground website. The price point is pretty good, but be warned that, for just a few dollars more, you can get a shiny new AcuRite 01024M, with the PRO version of the 5-in-1 sensor and a multi-screen color display to die for. But you're more likely to find this older unit used, so if the price is right, weather enthusiasts, go for it.
Anyone who's been following our AcuRite reviews could probably rattle off the statistics on this unit from memory. The 5-in-1 display, which you place in your yard, measures temperature, humidity, wind direction and speed, and rainfall amount. The indoor display shows this information plus the indoor temperature, a forecast, the time and the date. There, in one handy package, you have a complete view of your meteorological status (after the 14-day wait for the sensor to calibrate with local conditions) and an invitation to Weather Underground, where you can share this information with the rest of the weather-watching world and chat about all things meteorological. If you're addicted to weather, this unit will give you a steady supply of your favorite drug (from the climate-controlled comfort of your home, naturally).
You don't even have to be home. The MyAcuRite app on your mobile device will connect to the unit via the Internet so that you can basically carry the display in your pocket. And the AcuRite website will also share it with you, should you prefer to work with a browser. Once again, if you can find this used, get it. Of course, AcuRite has competition, so also look at the Irritrol Climate Logic CL-100 Wireless, the Ambient Weather WS-0900-IP, the Oregon Scientific WMR-89A or just about any unit in the Weather Stations section of this site. Somewhere in there is the weather station of your dreams.
Everything I wanted in a weather station! Easy to install and connect to the weather underground. Would recommend to friends!
This thing is junk! It isn't accurate at all when it's 90 outside, it reports that it's 110.
